December 2020 we launched our first Give Back event.
Some of you generously purchased baby and pet items during this event, working together with us to give back to our community. We would like to say thank you, thank you, thank you!
Now for the FUN part- the give back!
We have chosen and inspiring local charity for our baby goods...the Caldwell Pregnancy Care Center (CPCC)! Let me introduce them.
The Caldwell Pregnancy Care Center is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. I have personally been acquainted with CPCC since 1999 when our 4-H Club volunteered to assemble their monthly newsletter. I have seen first hand how they genuinely care about their clients and give selflessly to our community.
The Center has an outstanding reputation for providing free, confidential services such as
- counseling
- pregnancy tests
- ultrasounds
- parenting education classes
- maternity clothing
- baby layettes
- baby furniture
I couldn't wait to take our girls- Charis and Emi, to get their first peek at the center! I knew they would love it!
It was an unusually sunny day, so CPCC director Machelle Kirby met with us on the center's back porch. This was one of the girls first official "business meetings". They were excited and felt very grown up...and I must say, they behaved very professionally.
As we sat there on the porch explaining our little family business to Machelle, showing her our handmade baby goods and explaining how we'd like to partner with the center to bless new mammas, I could hardly hold back my tears.
I thought about all those precious babies and their parents who are touched by this ministry. Mamas just trying to figure out how to survive, how to provide, or even if they should keep their baby. The daddies who struggle and need a strong example of what a daddy can be, or how to be a better husband.
I thought about the center's volunteers. Their altruistic willingness to be in the trenches with these parents, giving freely of their time, compassion and most of all their love to help those in need.
I looked at the small box of bibs and burp cloths we had brought. I felt honored and humbled to be a part of something so uplifting, something so beyond...ourselves.
I am beyond proud for Wendy And Company to be partnering with such a ministry. But more that that, I am thrilled for Charis and Emi to have real life examples of grace and kindness.
We ended our meeting with me (unprofessionally) drying my eyes and all three of us getting a peak at Hope's Closet- the center's hub of donated items organized in beautiful boutique style.
Please consider joining us in donating to CPCC. A monetary donation can be made on their website by clicking the logo below.
Physical items such as diapers, bottles, maternity clothing, baby items, baby clothing and furniture can be donated at 210 Ridge Street Lenoir, NC.
Keep your eyes open! We plan to host several Give Back events this year to foster awareness and generate support for this faithful community ministry.
